David J. Sobel, Esq.
Dave is the founder of David J. Sobel, P.C. and has overseen the development of the practice in all areas of litigation including personal injury defense, insurance claims, vehicular and premises liability claims. In addition, Dave provides representation to dozens of clients as to their insurance, corporate and contractual needs. His in-depth knowledge of the No-Fault Insurance Laws and Regulations of New York State has led to his lecturing to various groups as to the numerous changes in the No-Fault laws.
Dave has been recognized on multiple occasions by his peers as a Super Lawyer as being in the top 5% of negligence defense trial attorneys in the New York Metro area. Dave has been active in the Suffolk County Bar Association in numerous capacities including serving as the co-chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Professional Ethics Committee, the Supreme Court Committee and the Negligence Defense Attorney Committee. He has served as an Officer of the Suffolk County Bar Association Academy of Law. He recently served on the Suffolk County Bar Association Judicial Screening Committee.
Dave has coordinated and lectured about Trial practice, Professional Ethics and No-Fault Insurance. He has served as an attorney mentor for the Smithtown High School West Mock Trial Team and has acted as a Judge in Suffolk County High School Mock Trial competitions. Dave has been quoted in the Long Island Edition of the New York Law Journal. Dave was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1987 and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts in 1987. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States Court of Claims and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Nassau Suffolk Trial Lawyers.Dave received his law degree from Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 1985 and graduated from Adelphi University in 1982. Dave resides in Suffolk County and enjoys traveling, reading and all kinds of outdoor activities including cycling, hiking kayaking and golf.
Andreia L. Bento, Esq.
Andreia L. Bento, Esq. joined David J. Sobel, P.C., in October of 2021. Her practice areas focus on bodily injury defense and personal injury matters such as premises liability and motor vehicle collisions. Her previous experience at a high-volume plaintiff’s personal injury practice brought her tremendous proficiency in all aspects of litigation; including first-hand experience with client intakes and meetings, as well as preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery responses. In addition, she has vast experience in conducting and defending parties at depositions, preparing and participating in Arbitration Hearings and has appeared in the Supreme Courts of Suffolk, Nassau and all five boroughs of New York City.
Andreia’s diligent research skills and astute attention to detail help her detect the most appropriate and cost-effective defense and resolution for her clients. She is an avid reader and writer and approaches representation with a meticulous eye that gets her results.
Andreia received her Juris Doctor from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2018 and was admitted to practice law in New York in February of 2019. Prior to attending law school, Andreia graduated from Hofstra University in 2014 with her Bachelor of Arts in both History and Political Science. At Hofstra Law, she was a member of the Dispute Resolution Society and competed in some of their on-campus tournaments. In addition, Andreia was a member of the Journal of International Business and Law, in which her student Note, “‘All That is Gold Does Not Glitter’: Mercury Exposure to Children in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mines and the Inadequacy of the Minamata Convention”, was published in 2017. In her final year at law school, Andreia served on the Journal’s Managing Board as Senior Research Editor.
Throughout law school, Andreia worked with Hofstra Law’s Immigration Clinic which helped individuals obtain legal aid in completing their applications for Naturalization through the Pathway to Citizenship Program established at the Central American Refugee Center in Hempstead, New York. As a child of immigrants and an immigrant herself, Andreia brings the hardworking, “immigrant mentality” to every aspect of her career. Andreia is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, loves to cook, bake, travel and is a member of the Suffolk Bar Association.
